President Hülya Aslantas attended the inauguration of the new Club of Skål International Baku on 8 October 2009 held at the Hillside Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan and presented the Club's charter as well as membership certificates and pins to all the new members.

President Hülya Aslantas underlined during her speech that, as a new tourism destination, Azerbaijan will certainly benefit from the networking opportunities Skål International offers and welcomed the tourism professionals in Baku to the Skål Family. In his response, Ruslan Guliyev, President of Skål International Baku, said he believed that Skål Baku has a very good representation of the tourism and travel professionals in Baku and several new members will be joining soon. The Dean of the Azerbaijan Tourism Institute, Mr Cafer Memmed oglu Caferov, Nahid Bagirov President of AZTA and Mr Mahir Gahramanov from the Ministry of Civilisations and Tourism are among the members of the new Club. |
President Hülya Aslantas attended the 18th UNWTO General Assembly held in Astana, Kazakstan from 3-8 October 2009. Skål has been an affiliate member since the 1980s and with the new repositioning efforts is aiming to take a more active role. Skål was a candidate for the position of Vice President of the Affiliate members and was elected during the General Assembly. Hülya Aslantas is pictured with President of the Affiliated Clubs, Mr. Eulogio Bordas and other board members during the meeting in Astana.
During the General Assembly President Hülya Aslantas also had the opportunity to meet and present a letter to the Kazakstan Minister of Tourism and Sport Mr. Temirkhan Dosmuhabetov with a view to forming a Skål Club in Astana. Hülya Aslantas also had a meeting with several potential members who will follow up the formation efforts. On 5 October 2009 the President of the Republic of Kazakstan, Nursulta Nazarbayev, hosted a Welcome reception at the Piramid Cultural Centre with superb performances of Kazakstan ensembles and performers. |
| Skål International Bruxelles is organising its 2009 Skål Cruise aboard the Costa Fortuna from 30 November to 5 December 2009. The cruise will leave Venice on Monday 30 November and visit Bari, Corfu, Valletta, Naples, arriving in Savona on Saturday 5 December at 9 a.m. Coaches are being organised from Bruxelles to Venice and from Savona to Bruxelles. Welcome and farewell cocktails will be hosted by Skål International Bruxelles and Skål International Belgium & Luxembourg respectively. The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson is to open the 30th World Travel Market at ExCel London on Monday 9 November 2009. Approximately 50,000 travel professionals will visit the exhibition over the four days. Read more. |
