In Memoriam of Jim Power

Jim’s Mother, Mrs. Rita Power has asked us to make known that she is overwhelmed and deeply touched by the many tributes paid to Jim and regrets not being able to personally acknowledge each one. It is helping her in her grief to know that so many people are thinking of her and took so much trouble to write.

Message from Jim’s family to Skål International

We, Jim’s family, wish to thank the Skål members across the world for their very many messages of support and condolences.

The respect and affection conveyed in your tributes will remain as a wonderful legacy for Jim.

We have been greatly helped and comforted by your support for us and we are pleased that your good wishes include the superb team in the Secretariat in Torremolinos who were also part of Jim’s family and who have been so supportive to us since his death.

It has been a pleasure for us to meet with so many of you over the past few weeks and to experience your warm embrace.

Our Parish Priest celebrated a special Mass with us in Jim’s memory in our local Church in Kilmore on Sunday 18th June. At that Mass, we prayed for the continued success and welfare of Skål International and its members as a mark of our appreciation for your kindness and generosity.

Rita, Denis, Anne and Patricia

Nik Racic - President Skål International

There is so little I can say about such a tragic event other than Skål will not be the same without Jim, he had been Secretary General since January 1993 and will be missed so much by all of us.

I am sure we will never forget him and that his actions will unite us and make us stronger in the idea that I have inaugurated as the president: “Living the true spirit of Skål” which was also the motto of Jim’s life.

My condolences go to his family and staff at the General Secretariat who had all worked with him for many years.

Dear Jim, may you rest in peace.

Skål International Croatia commemorated Jim Power
On special commemoration held June 16, 2010 in Zagreb, Skål International Croatia commemorated Jim Power, our Secretary General and our close friend.
In presence of SkåI International President Nik Racic and Zlatan Fröhlich, SI Croatia Councillor, National President Marija Šebalj, spoke about Jim and his tremendous contribution to Skål International. As she told, Jim was more then secretary – he was living in a spirit of Skål, what means friendship and readiness to assist every Skål club and every Skål member. Unforgettable is his contribution in organization of SI World Congress in 2005 in Zagreb and Dubrovnik. SI Croatia will remember Jim as unique professional, kind person and skalleague, with human touch and remarkable personality.
Skål Croatia convey deepest condolences to his family and skalleagues all over the world.
