You might remember that the Daintree Discovery Centre won the Skal International Ecotourism Award for Sustainable Tourism - Countryside Project in Budapest last year and the owners/directors, Ron and Pam Birkett are looking forward to catching up with fellow Skalleagues attending the 71st World Congress in Australia in October 2010.

In appreciation of the wonderful hospitality extended in Budapest last year, Pam and Ron are inviting all Skaleagues and their partners, attending the 71st World Congress in Sydney, to visit their multi award winning environmental interpretive centre free of charge. The team look forward to welcoming you to the Centre free of charge – just let us know you are coming by via email centre@daintree-rec.com.au

A multi-award winner, the Discovery Centre is nestled in the heart of the rainforest, 10 kms north of the Daintree River – a 2 hour drive along the beautiful Coral Coast from Cairns in Far North Queensland, Australia.

The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest surviving tropical rainforest in the world. And the Daintree Discovery Centre is a ‘world class’ rainforest interpretive facility’ that provides safe and easy access to every level of this ancient wilderness via its elevated aerial walkways and canopy tower. The Centre is wheelchair friendly and audio guides are available in six languages. For more information see: www.daintree-rec.com.au

The Centre specializes in showcasing the ecology and biology of the rainforest; however it is its Carbon Offset Bio-sequestration Project that is receiving international acclaim. A brand new Climate Change theatre and innovative mega fauna display are a proving a hit with everyone interested in finding out more about the cyclic nature of global warming.

Our expert staff are passionate about preserving the environment and keen to share their knowledge with everyone who visits this precious pocket of unspoilt tropical rainforest.

Come and help us save the planet!
